Israeli 3D bioprinting company CollPlant Biotechnologies has raised 5 million euros to fund its efforts using 3D printing to create synthetic tissues and organs based on medical images, according to a report on 3dprint.com.
The company has been using bioinks such as recombinant human collagen to manufacture synthetic lungs for patients requiring transplantation. Most recently, CollPlant has developed a prototype 3D-bioprinted implant to support the regeneration of breast tissue.
Ami Sagi purchased the largest share of the convertible loans at 1.8 million euros with the remainder of the funds coming from various U.S. investors, the report noted.
