McKesson's System C wins patient record contract

Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals National Health Service (NHS) Foundation Trust in the U.K. has purchased a Medway electronic patient record (EPR) system from System C, a McKesson company.

The contract follows Basildon's investment in an electronic medical records system in 2011, which involved thousands of historical notes being scanned into the system and made available to view online. The go-live date is planned for October 2013.

Order communications and results reporting functionality is expected to be deployed in early 2014, as the trust looks to build an integrated EPR. The hospitals also hope to be able to integrate its PACS with the system, and to make radiology images in the PACS accessible through the EPR.
