RCR publishes new imaging standards

The U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has published new standards for the reporting and interpretation of imaging investigations. The document is free to download from its website.

The third edition of "Standards for Interpretation and Reporting of Imaging Investigations” provides a baseline that all radiology reports should achieve, so that the quality and consistency of imaging interpretation can be assured, RCR said. This edition replaces the second edition, published in 2018.

Ultimately, adherence to the standards will ensure that image interpretation continues to add value to patient diagnostic and treatment pathways, RCR said.

A postpublication webinar will be held for this guidance on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, from 5:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. U.K. time, RCR added. Registration information can be found on the RCR’s events page.
