The U.K. National Health Service (NHS) foundation trusts of Cambridge University Hospitals and Papworth Hospital have named Epic Systems and Hewlett-Packard (HP) as the preferred bidders to provide software and hardware for their eHospital program.
The trusts anticipate that the two companies will work in partnership with the hospitals over the next 10 years to create an integrated IT service that includes an electronic health record (EHR) system.
HP has been selected as the preferred bidder to deliver the hardware and infrastructure throughout the hospitals. Epic has been selected as the software and systems provider for management of patient services.
Contracts are expected to be signed in June 2012, according to the trusts. Financial details have not been disclosed.
