Italian Federation of Radiology Societies names new president

The Italian Federation of Radiology Medical Societies (FldeSMAR) has named Vittorio Miele as its new president.

Miele is a professor at the University of Florence, serving as director of the School of Specialization in Diagnostic Radiology and director of the Department of Radiology at the Careggi University Hospital in Florence.

The federation includes the following Italian medical societies: The Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology (SIRM), the Italian Association of Radiobiology (AIRB), the Italian Association of Oncological Radiation Therapy (AIRO), the Italian Association of Nuclear Medicine (AIMN), and the Italian Association of Neuroradiology (AINR). 

Miele will serve as president for the next two years. Objectives include modernizing technological devices and optimizing their use, with specific attention toward hybrid devices that combine the expertise and work of multiple specialists.

Miele said one of his goals during his term is to open a dialogue on this issue with relevant institutions.
