Week in Review: Top 10 stories for 2025 | Irish AI survey | ESR election looms

Ward Philip 2025 Headshot

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

MRI safety is more important than ever to the medical imaging community, it seems. This year’s most viewed article was about April’s safety incident in Turku, Finland, and the second most popular story focused on hair extensions and MRI.

Other subjects of great interest to you were the risk of cancers associated with radiation from CT scans and how best to use ChatGPT in the clinic. For the top 10 list, please go to this week’s top story.

What do patients really think about radiology AI? Irish researchers addressed this question and presented their findings at RSNA 2025. Find out more in our news report from the congress.

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) always takes great pride in its democratic decision-making process. Voting begins on 8 January in the ESR election, and the society has now revealed the full list of candidates, along with their biographies and personal statements.

In other news, Swiss researchers have published the results of an informative study about the impact of marathon training.

Many of you have enjoyed Dr. Paul McCoubrie’s thought-provoking articles throughout 2025. If you missed it earlier this week, make sure you spare the time to read his latest column on burnout.

Looking ahead, we’ll be publishing our regular newsletter next Tuesday. After that, our next newsletter will be distributed on 6 January. Our next week in review will appear on 9 January.

On behalf of the entire AuntMinnieEurope team, I wish you all the very best for the festive season.
