Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

The results of a comprehensive survey of radiology trainees have been published in the European Journal of Radiology, and they comprise the focus of this week’s top article.

Over a four-month period, the authors obtained detailed feedback from 199 radiology trainees from 35 Italian universities. Anyone involved in education should give their input a careful look.

For many years now, multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) have been an essential component of cancer care, at least in the U.K. But Dr. Paul McCoubrie is convinced that the current approach requires a radical rethink, and it’s significant that senior authors from the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) share his view. Read his latest column.

Also catching our attention this week was the RCR’s practical and timely advice about how to boost the sustainability of radiotherapy departments.

Meanwhile, another team from the U.K. has reported that animation-based tools can help to improve patient comprehension, reduce anxiety, cut medicolegal risk, and facilitate consistent consent practices across interventional radiology services.

It’s been a turbulent few months for French radiologists, who continue to be enraged about the pending government tariff reductions. A survey of 4,000 private radiologists has focused attention on the likely consequences of the cuts.

Looking ahead, the RSNA meeting begins in Chicago on Sunday. Check out AuntMinnie for live coverage of the congress. On AuntMinnieEurope, we’ll bring you news of European research highlights throughout next week.
