Week in Review: RANZCR research | Will radiology and pathology merge? | Cryptococcus imaging findings

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

This week, we've highlighted research presented at the recent annual meeting of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) held in Melbourne. A team from Queensland presented two cases that underscored CT's role in identifying ovarian torsion -- a rare but emergent condition that involves twisting of the ovarian vascular pedicle -- while another group based in Cottesloe and Murdoch reported on review findings that highlight the usefulness of screening women under 40 for breast cancer, especially if they are symptomatic.

Of particular interest was our report on a commentary published in the European Journal of Radiology about the possible merging of radiology and pathology and our coverage of a study that described imaging findings of Cryptococcus infection, a condition common in Australia and Papua New Guinea.

We also posted an article about the remarks Prof. Dr. Christiane Kuhl, PhD, of University Hospital RWTH Aachen in Germany gave to the German news magazine Der Spiegel regarding the state of breast cancer screening in Europe.

We invite you to check out these stories and many others from the week!
