The European Society of Radiology (ESR) has launched a new sports imaging website that includes features of globally recognized athletes that demonstrate how radiology is used in the diagnosis and management of sports injuries for the International Day of Radiology (IDoR).
Twenty-eight athletes will be featured, including Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt, tennis champion Roger Federer, and soccer pro Lionel Messi. Highlighted sports injuries will range from twisted ankles to brain trauma, according to the ESR.
The site launch is one of ways ESR is marking IDoR on 8 November, which celebrates the day that Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered the existence of x-rays in 1895, the ESR said.
