The U.K. Society of Radiographers (SoR) has urged its members to share and participate in an online survey that addresses osteoporosis care.
Initiated by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Osteoporosis and Bone Health, the survey aims to gather experiences of people living with osteoporosis -- particularly how care is provided in the community and how patients are supported to manage their condition.
"All radiographers and assistant practitioners involved in DXA [dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry] services should share their experiences and insights," stated Sue Johnson, professional officer of clinical imaging at the SoR. "The radiographic voice is valuable in showcasing how DXA service provision is carried out in different areas and the level of support provided to patients in managing frailty."
Responses will help shape recommendations to improve osteoporosis care across the U.K., according to the groups.
By drawing on patient testimony, surveys, and evidence from clinicians, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and digital-health experts, the APPG will "consider different aspects of the patient journey, particularly as they move between primary, secondary, and community care," the Royal Osteoporosis Society said. "The focus is on what helps -- or hinders -- patients to stay informed, stay on treatment, and stay fracture-free."
Themes to be addressed include the role of multi-disciplinary teams and digital tools such as the NHS App, according to the SoR.
The anonymous survey, available via the SoR website, closes on 26 August.
