Royal Philips, parent company of Philips Healthcare, will provide imaging equipment for the 2013 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix to be held 28-30 June in Silverstone, U.K., the company said.
The firm will supply more than 500,000 pounds worth of medical equipment to Silverstone Medical Centre, including its touchscreen Sparq mobile ultrasound scanner and its Mobile Diagnost digital x-ray system. The medical center is located near the race track.
Philip's Sparq system includes a FAST (focused assessment with sonography for trauma) scanning mode that allows medics to quickly determine whether an injured person is suffering from internal bleeding. Mobile Diagnost allows physicians to see spine, chest, and pelvis injuries immediately on screen, Philips said.
