The University of Leicester in the U.K., in collaboration with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, is offering a series of courses on performing virtual autopsies and postmortem imaging, starting in October.
The East Midlands Forensic Pathology Unit (EMFPU), based at the university, is offering a daylong course in postmortem CT autopsy imaging on 9 October at its facility. In addition to the first course, entitled Introduction to Post Mortem Imaging, courses on practical introductions to postmortem CT and angiography, which include topics on reporting findings, are planned. A daylong course specifically for radiographers also will be offered.
The series of daylong courses addressing different aspects of postmortem CT techniques is intended to introduce coroners, pathologists, radiologists, and radiographers to the use of CT imaging in the investigation of sudden death.
Speakers will include Dr. Guy Rutty, chief forensic pathologist to the EMFPU, and Dr. Bruno Morgan, a forensic radiologist and a radiology professor at the University of Leicester College of Medicine, Biological Sciences and Psychology.
