The Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT) has launched a new radiology podcast.
The podcast, RadPod, focuses on medical radiation practitioners and is aimed as both an educational and general interest program, the producers said in a statement.
The first podcast episode, “Sitting on both sides of the fence,” is available now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and other podcast streaming services. The episode features a conversation with radiographer Karim Yacoub and radiation therapist Jarrod Prohasky, who discuss how their childhood experiences as patients -- Yacoub following a diagnosis of cystinosis, Prohasky of acute myeloid leukemia -- have influenced their work.
“People are saying it really resonated with them,” RadPod host Steve Lacey said about the reception the first episode has received.
“In particular, they appreciated the honesty from (guests) Karim and Jarrod, and their willingness to talk about their lived experience as patients.”
ASMIRT said that it plans to release one episode of RadPod each month for the rest of the year.
