Europe's mammography systems market will more than double by 2020, from 115 million euros in 2013 to an estimated 313 million euros by 2020.
The increase represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15%, according to a new report published by medical intelligence company GBI Research.
The 2D full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems market was valued at just under 91 million euros in 2013 and is forecast to exceed 179 million euros by 2020, rising at a CAGR of 10%. The 3D FFDM systems market will grow more rapidly, from just over 24 million euros in 2013 to almost 134 million euros by 2020, at a CAGR of 28%, according to the report.
The increase will occur across five major markets, including Germany, the U.K., France, Spain, and Italy, with Germany enjoying the largest total growth. That country's mammography market will expand from 35 million euros in 2013 to 103 million euros by 2020, at a CAGR of 16%.
Spain will see the fastest growth, however, with the mammography market value rising at a CAGR of 19%, from just under 14 million euros in 2013 to almost 47 million euros by 2020, GBI Research said.
