A new report from market research firm KLAS shares PACS customer feedback that focuses primarily on the technology and functionality of the most recent software versions. Highlights for the report were announced at the 2012 RSNA meeting in Chicago.
In the report, "Radiology PACS Technology: The World Looks Under the Covers," PACS technology leaders are identified as those that offer meaningful and timely upgrades with expanded usability.
The top-rated PACS innovators have a track record of improvement, and these include Infinitt and Intelerad, who were strongly endorsed by their customers. Other top-rated innovators include DR Systems, McKesson, Novarad, and Sectra, who have all released better radiologist tools with recent upgrades.
Midtier companies also offer solid technology and innovation, but bring their products to market at a slower rate than the industry's top performers, according to the report. These companies include Carestream Health, Fujifilm Medical Systems USA, Merge Healthcare, and Philips Healthcare.
However, some vendors are falling behind in terms of development and functionality, according to KLAS. Agfa HealthCare, Cerner, GE Healthcare, and Siemens Healthcare were ranked in the bottom tier of PACS innovators, though they do offer some stability and integration, the report noted.
