Oxford, U.K.-based Fuel3D has won a contract worth $1.1 million U.S. (685,831 pounds) for the development of a 3D wound measurement scanner, the company said.
Fuel3D will use the Small Business Research Initiative for Healthcare (SBRI) contract from the U.K. government to develop its Eykona scanner technology for a range of therapy applications, with the goal of adoption of the software in the National Health Service (NHS) England and international healthcare markets.
The company's Eykona Wound Measurement System generates 3D images of wounds. The device has been available since 2012, and is in use in more than 25 NHS Trusts, as well as in universities and research projects in the U.K., the U.S., Europe, and Australia, Fuel3D said.
