German firm Leoni has introduced its Orion patient positioning system for radiotherapy procedures.
Orion features the ability to provide dynamic patient positioning control in six degrees of freedom with submillimeter accuracy, according to the vendor. It can also enable patients to be prepared outside the treatment room via a tool-changing system, Leoni said.
The system's robot can grab the patient couch in any place with the tool-changing system, while a 3D camera system provides real-time monitoring of patient position in relation to the beam and can correct the position of the patient couch if necessary, the company said.
Orion will be introduced to the market in 2014, Leoni said.
