Toshiba Medical Systems Europe will be highlighting an updated version of its Aquilion LB large-bore CT scanner at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) annual meeting starting Wednesday in Barcelona.
Equipped with Toshiba's QuantumPLUS Detector Technology, it can acquire 16-row data with 0.5-mm thin slices and 350-micron spatial resolution.
The next generation model of the system offers new console architecture, including remote access using a SUREExposure 3D-equipped PC that provides direct access to the main console for instant reviewing of patient data. It incorporates a respiratory gating system and Toshiba's double-slice technology, enabling 32 images to be generated in a single rotation without dose penalty.
The new model of Aquilion LB also is equipped with AIDR 3D, Toshiba's adaptive iterative dose reduction technology in 3D, with the ability to reduce radiation dose up to 75% in a clinical setting, according to Toshiba.
Other software features include a phase-averaging function to stack multiphase data and demonstrate tumor movement in a single static image, and an advanced 4D viewer with target tracking function to show the region of interest in-plane during cine playback.
