Liver atlas wins ESGAR award; French prizewinner; Norway's new initiative

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

E-learning can be somewhat hit and miss. There are some useful educational websites, but also some pretty mediocre and out-of-date ones. It takes a lot of time and effort to sift through them in search of that hidden gem.

One such gem is the Liver Imaging Atlas, according to the organizers of last week's European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) meeting, who singled out this free site for special praise. To find out more, go to our Advanced Visualization Digital Community, or click here.

Researchers from Hôpital Saint Antoine in Paris also received an award at the ESGAR congress. They shared their experiences about tumor response in liver cancer, and you can click here to read more.

A bold initiative to standardize all CT and MRI protocols by 2018 has begun in the west of Norway. The goals are to boost workflow and reduce radiation exposure. We've interviewed Dr. Aslak Aslaksen, head of radiology at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen. Visit our CT Digital Community, or click here.

Marie Curie is famous for her stamina and perseverance, as well as her scientific flair and creativity. The former qualities were very much in evidence during World War I, writes our history columnist Dr. Adrian Thomas, who is keen for everybody to know more about what this remarkable woman did for her adopted country of France. Go to our Digital X-Ray Community, or click here.

At this month's U.K. Radiological Congress, a new study of CT referrals in a large academic hospital in Saudi Arabia underlined the need to increase collaboration between clinicians and radiologists in order to follow appropriateness guidelines, attain radiation dose reduction strategies, and avoid misuse of the modality. Finally, don't miss our latest article about the emergence of radiology in Turkey. This week's installment is on breast cancer management in the country. Visit the Middle East Community of AuntMinnie.com, or click here.
