Dear Molecular Imaging Insider,

It speaks volumes about the clinical potential and promise of PET/MRI that two talented radiologists like Dr. Nadya Pyatigorskaya, PhD, and Dr. Katja Pinker-Domenig, PhD, should both choose to conduct research into the optimum use of this modality.

At last week's International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) meeting, Pyatigorskaya and her colleagues in Paris presented the findings of a study involving 273 patients with upper aerodigestive tract cancer who underwent PET/MRI at the world-famous Pitié-Salpêtrière University Hospital between 2015 and 2020. Find out more in today's top article.

Also at ISMRM 2023, we caught up with Pinker-Domenig about her latest thoughts on the use of the hybrid technique in breast imaging. Don't miss our video interview.

The ability to detect a molecular target in the central nervous system noninvasively and at high spatial resolution using MRI has attracted the interest of many researchers over the years. In another report from ISMRM 2023, we focused on the latest work in this area by a group from Normandie University in Caen, France.

In other news, the success of Prof. Minerva Becker in the recent European Society of Radiology (ESR) elections is a positive development for molecular imaging. One of Becker's specialist topics is PET/CT in head and neck oncology, so hybrid imaging is likely to be a priority when she becomes ESR president in July 2025. Interestingly, the European Society for Hybrid, Molecular and Translational Imaging supported Becker's campaign.

Finally, we have a report from Germany about how delaying SPECT/CT imaging by 15 hours after radiotracer injection can enable the identification of more tumors in patients with relapsed prostate cancer.

These news items are just a sample of the material we've posted during the last month or so in the Molecular Imaging Community. See the full list below for all our recent coverage and contact me if you have ideas for future coverage.
