To recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2024, France's union of private radiologists, Fédération Nationale des Médecins Radiologues (FNMR), has launched an action plan to inform women about the usefulness of mammography screening for breast cancer.
During the first three weeks of October, representatives of patient associations, as well as local radiologists, oncologists, and technicians will run a bus in several cities in Alsace to familiarize women with a mammography machine and to offer screening appointments within 15 days, according to an FNMR press release issued on 16 September.
In addition, on October 5, during the French annual radiology congress (JFR 2024, Journées Francophones de Radiologie) in Paris, the FNMR will host an event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of mammography. Luminaries such as Dr. Philippe Douste-Blazy, who served as France’s Minister of Health in 2004, will attend the event. Women who have been screened for breast cancer will receive "Pink Awards," FNMR noted.
