Andrea Rockall: The garden is my zen zone

Over a weekend at home, the chances are you'll see ECR 2025 President Prof. Andrea Rockall weeding her vegetable patch, pruning the hydrangeas, and litter-picking on a 5k run. The garden is "a place of calm and peace," she told AuntMinnieEurope.com in an exclusive video interview on Sunday 16 February, adding that it restores her and is her zen zone. As a strong advocate of sustainability and environmental issues -- the central theme of this year's congress -- she leads by example.

During the week, Rockall resides in London so she can be close to Imperial College, where she is clinical chair in radiology. She is also an honorary consultant radiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and she still does two days of clinical work each week, reporting genitourinary scans. Her own area of special interest is urogenital cancer, and she says she gets a thrill out of working in a large department with around 100 consultant radiologists and 80 trainees.

In the video below, Rockall spends the first 8 minutes speaking about what's new at ECR 2025, as well as her main successes and challenges during her year presiding over the ESR. She then discusses her own clinical responsibilities and research, and after 10 minutes and 50 seconds of the recording, she elaborates on her passion for gardening and life in the countryside.
