VIENNA - Carestream Health is launching a new package for low-dose pediatric radiography at this week's European Congress of Radiology (ECR).
The package is based on Carestream's structured needle phosphor (SNP) screen technology, and includes software with specific patient setup protocols for different pediatric body parts. The package is available for the company's computed radiography, flat-panel digital radiography, and mobile systems.
SNP technology is at the heart of another new introduction being highlighted at ECR, a new SNP-M1 screen for Carestream's CR mammography product offering. The screen enables users to perform CR mammography at a radiation dose and image quality equivalent to full-field digital mammography, according to Carestream.
SNP screens are commercially available for mammography on the company's Classic, Elite, CR 850, CR 950, and CR 975 systems. The SNP technology is not yet shipping for pediatric imaging.
Other ECR highlights in the Carestream booth include several new printers. Dryview 5700 is an affordable tabletop-based unit for general imaging, while Dryview 6850 Laser Imager is a high-volume film printer with a throughput of more than 200 prints per hour at 650 pixel-per-inch resolution. Meanwhile, Dryview Chroma is a work-in-progress tabletop printer that has the ability to print either diagnostic color or grayscale images on paper or film.
Carestream has also added an XDS registry capability to its vendor-neutral archiving (VNA) product, which makes it easier to share clinical records between physicians. The company is also demonstrating a volume matching feature as a work-in-progress for its PACS software that's designed to help monitor therapy by measuring changes in tumor size.
