The U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has launched a postgraduate certificate in medical education in collaboration with the University of Dundee.
While specialist postgraduate certificates and masters' degrees in medical education exist for other specialties, there has been nothing similar for radiology, the RCR said. Delivered entirely online, the course takes one year of part-time study. It comprises three modules each lasting more than 12 weeks. The first two modules cover learning, teaching, and assessment. The third is the learning, teaching, and assessment in radiology module, written by the RCR's first educational fellow, Dr. Faye Cuthbert, in collaboration with Dr. Peter Washer, the college's educational adviser, with support from the University of Dundee team.
The radiology course is designed for trainee and consultant radiologists who wish to develop their careers in medical education and for other healthcare professionals who teach radiology, including those based abroad, the RCR said. Members and fellows of the college are eligible for a 10% discount on course fees. The first cohort starts in January 2016 with further intakes in May and September.
