Mobile breast screening unit gets hit by hefty parking fees

Cornwall Council in the U.K. has charged the National Health Service (NHS) breast screening program substantial parking fees for its mobile screening van, but the charges have now been waived, according to a report posted by CornwallLive.com.

The vehicle travels across England making triennial mammography exams available to women between the ages of 50 and 71. The council charged the NHS 1,500 pounds (1,637 euros) to use a car park in Liskeard for six months, according to the website.

"Following a recent review there is now no charge made to the NHS for parking their mammogram vehicle in Cornwall Council pay and display car parks," a spokesperson for the Council said in the CornwallLive.com report.
