The European Society of Radiology (ESR) congratulated Prof. Regina Beets-Tan, PhD, for her appointment as a member of the Mission Board for Cancer. The appointment was made by the European Commission (EC) on 30 July.
The European research and innovation missions are part of the EC's Horizon Europe scheme, and they aim to deliver solutions to some of the greatest global challenges, including cancer, climate change, and preservation of marine life, the ESR noted.
Beets-Tan chairs the department of radiology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam and is a professor of radiology at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. She is also past president of the European Society of Oncologic Imaging (ESOI) and won the Most Effective Radiology Educator award in the 2019 EuroMinnies.
