The European medical technology industry association Eucomed and the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association (EDMA) have appointed Serge Bernasconi as chief executive for both organizations.
Bernasconi will assume this position on 16 July 2012, and will succeed Luciano Cattani at Eucomed and Volker Oeding at EDMA.
The Brussels-headquartered organizations said that the appointment of a single chief executive is taking place at a time when both associations are intensifying their collaborative activities, in line with the decision by their respective memberships to join forces in an alliance that was made public in January 2012.
Bernasconi has worked for more than 30 years in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. He was president and international regional vice president of Medtronic France, and also had worked for Johnson & Johnson and Schering Plough.
