Canadian ultrasound technology developer Exact Imaging has partnered with Cambridge Consultants in the U.K. to advance the visualization and detection of prostate cancer.
Cambridge Consultants will apply its machine-learning techniques to Exact Imaging's ExactVu high-resolution micro-ultrasound system to identify potentially suspicious regions of tissue and provide information to urologists who can then decide on biopsy and other treatment options.
The ultimate goal of the merged technologies is to enhance the accuracy and characterization of potentially cancerous regions and improve a patient's quality of life. Early results from proof-of-concept testing show significant promise, even with relatively limited datasets, according to the companies.
