Proton therapy developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) has completed installation of its Proteus One high-energy proton beam unit at a U.K. cancer center.
IBA and its collaborator, Proton Partners International, accomplished the installation at Rutherford Cancer Centre in Newport, South Wales, in nine months. It is the U.K.'s first high-energy proton beam machine, according to the IBA.
The center plans to begin treating patients with the device this month.
