IRE Elit has filed an application with the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to market its Galli Eo generator to produce the PET radiopharmaceuticals gallium-68 (Ga-68) and germanium-68 (Ge-68).
The generator is designed to extract the positron-emitting isotope Ga-68 of gallium from a source of decaying germanium-68 used for diagnostic procedures.
Its major application would be in oncology, where development and availability of new 68-Ga-agents, such as prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) for prostate cancer detection, have increased in recent years.
