ASG Superconductors has been awarded a contract by Gachon University Gil Medical Center (GUGMC) in Inchon, South Korea, to build ultrahigh-field superconducting magnets.
The magnets will be produced by ASG in Italy and used to create a magnetic field of 11.74-tesla for neurological research and enhanced images of the brain.
The work will be performed on a joint basis with Korean company Magnex Scientific. ASG estimates the value of the contract at more than 10 million euros ($11 million U.S.).
In the past, ASG has produced magnets for applications in oncological radiotherapy.
