Queen Elizabeth presided over the opening of a new brain research site at Cardiff University in Wales this week.
The queen appeared at the opening of the Brain Research Imaging Center (CUBRIC), a neuroimaging research facility at Cardiff University that aims to develop better neurology and psychiatric treatments.
Using imaging and cognitive techniques such as microstructural imaging, functional MRI, and brain stimulation, the site will explore the causes of neurological and psychiatric conditions such as dementia, schizophrenia, and multiple sclerosis. It will also seek to understand mechanisms of a healthy brain, according to Siemens Healthineers, which provided four MRI systems to the facility.
Siemens said CUBRIC was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh.
