Holographic imaging firm Holoxica has received 1.3 million euros from the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises initiative to develop a holographic video display for medical scanners.
The technology will use motion holographic video displays for faster interpretation of 3D images -- which will lead to better-quality surgical procedures, Holoxica said.
The company plans to build a prototype of the device for use in CT, MR, and ultrasound volumetric scanning. When it is built, the display will be tested in three training scenarios: diagnostics, review and monitoring of disease, and live surgery, according to the firm.
