Radiation oncology firm Elekta said it has named Niklas Savander as its next president and CEO, effective May 1, 2014.
Savander succeeds Tomas Puusepp, who will remain with the firm after May 1 as a working member of its board of directors, the company said.
Savander has held senior management positions with Nokia and most recently Hewlett-Packard, where he was a member of the firm's executive management team in charge of day-to-day operations, Elekta said, adding that his understanding of complex global technology industries will be an asset to the company in its next stage of growth.
Savander will join the firm on January 1 in order to provide ample time to prepare for his new responsibilities, Elekta said.
