CSA Group, a global testing and certification organization, and British Standards Institution (BSI), a business standards company, have formed an alliance to provide their combined services to clients in the electronic medical device market, the two firms said.
Under the collaboration, CSA Group will certify and test electromedical products to the appropriate electrical standards for safety and performance, while BSI will help clients comply with various worldwide regulatory requirements as well as certification to the international standard ISO 13485.
In addition to the new partnership, CSA Group is purchasing BSI Deutschland's business for testing electronic medical devices to International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and IEC-based standards, the two companies said. CSA will take ownership immediately, and will continue to operate from BSI facilities in Frankfurt, Germany.
