Growth in order bookings from markets outside of Europe contributed to sales growth for PACS firm Sectra in its second fiscal quarter of 2012/2013.
Excluding a nonrecurring item in 2011/2012, second-quarter net sales reached 192.7 million Swedish kronor (22.3 million euros), up 1.8% from the 189.2 million Swedish kronor (21.9 million euros) reported a year ago.
Order bookings climbed from 190.6 million Swedish kronor (22 million euros) a year ago to 217 million Swedish kronor (25.1 million euros), an increase of 13.9%. Sectra had second-quarter operating profit of 23 million Swedish kronor (2.7 million euros), up from 19.9 million Swedish kronor (2.3 million euros) in the second fiscal quarter of 2011/2012.
Sectra said that the largest increase in order bookings was realized in the U.S., where bookings of 55 million Swedish kronor (6.4 million euros) represented a two-fold increase over the second fiscal quarter last year. The company said that its strategy is to become stronger in markets where it already holds an established position such as northern Europe and North America, and to expand in selected markets with growth potential.
In other Sectra news, the company has promoted two of its executives to executive vice president. Simo Pykälistö is the chief financial officer of the Sectra Group, while Marie Ekström is the head of Sectra's radiology product area. Both will be included in the group's executive management team, Sectra said.
