Salzburg cancer center upgrades linear accelerator

The cancer treatment center at SALK and Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg, Austria, has upgraded its Synergy linear accelerator (Elekta) with an Agility 160-leaf multileaf collimator.

The addition of this multileaf collimator is enabling radiation oncologists to treat 50 patients a day. The center has three linear accelerators to treat its cancer patients.

The upgrade was completed from start to finish, and acceptance testing began within a two-week period, according to Elekta.
