In conjunction with the ChinaMed exhibition being held in Beijing this week, radiation oncology firm Elekta announced milestones that it has achieved in selling its products to cancer treatment centers in China.
Elekta BMEI of Changping, China, shipped its 100th Elekta Compact treatment system and its 2000th Precise treatment table this month. The Fujian Province Tumor Hospital is the recipient of the equipment.
The company has received its first order for Elekta Axess, an advanced 4D stereotactic treatment system designed to facilitate highly targeted stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and radiosurgery.
The first two Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion radiosurgery systems in China have been installed at Beijing Tiantan Hospital and the Zheijiang University School of Medicine in Hangzhou. A third system will be installed at Shanghai Gamma Knife Hospital later this year.
Elekta has also released Mosaiq, its dedicated electronic oncology information system, in a Chinese language version. This is currently in use at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center in Guangzhou.
