Gains in its proton therapy division added to sales and services at Ion Beam Applications (IBA) in 2011, but the growth was not enough to avoid a net loss last year.
Sales and services in 2011 increased to 237.7 million euros ($309 million U.S.), compared with 209 million euros ($271.7 million U.S.) in 2010. The company also reported a net loss of 60.2 million euros ($78.3 million U.S.), compared with net income of 6.6 million euros ($8.6 million U.S.).
IBA attributed the net loss to its reorganization last year and a write-off of approximately 13 million euros ($16.9 million U.S.) related to the changes.
