Dear Molecular Imaging Insider,

To mark the occasion of this insider, three articles have gone live today in our Molecular Imaging Digital Community, and you won't want to miss any of them:

  • PET/CT of neuroendocrine tumors -- These tumors often represent a serious diagnostic challenge, but functional imaging is simplifying the task, delegates at the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) annual conference were told last week. To read more, click here.

  • Image of the Year award at the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) annual meeting -- To find out about the winner, click here.
  • Europe's nuclear medicine market -- We look at the sector's top trends, including the continued proliferation of PET/CT. Get the story here.

  • The Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany, is one of Europe's leading cancer research centers. At the 2012 European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) meeting in Barcelona, its head of medical physics, Oliver Jäkel, PhD, spoke about some of the DKFZ's latest programs. The growth of PET/CT has focused attention on the radiation dose being given to patients, and a comprehensive national survey from France will only add to these concerns. The study involving 56 of the country's 90 PET/CT systems has identified substantial variations in the practice of nuclear medicine departments. For our news report, click here.

Looking ahead, the World Molecular Imaging Congress takes place in Dublin in early September. We will be covering the meeting, and if your group plans to present some interesting research, or if your company is unveiling a new product, please contact me.
