The winners of the EuroMinnies were announced in our article on 19 February, after two rounds of voting by members of the Editorial Advisory Board, columnists, and past recipients and runners up. Most of the engraved trophies were presented by Stephen Wellman, director of content strategy at AuntMinnieEurope.com, during ECR 2023.

"I received so many positive congratulatory messages from colleagues, friends, and researchers from both the radiology and artificial intelligence (AI) domain," said Prof. Wiro Niessen, who recently moved from Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, to become Dean of Medical Sciences at University Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands.

"This to me reflects the great collaboration we have been able to build in recent years between radiologists and AI specialists. It is this co-creation which will allow us to move from the potential of AI towards developing the trustworthy tools that can be adopted clinically at scale with positive impact for patient outcomes," he added.

Niessen pointed out that all the work for his EuroMinnies Most Influential Researcher prize was carried out in his previous post as principal investigator, Biomedical Imaging Group, Erasmus MC.

"It's such great news!" noted Pecoraro, who is a board member of the ESR's Radiology Trainees' Forum. "A trophy as a rising star means recognition and acknowledgement of my potential, growth, and success in the radiology field. It will serve as a motivation to continue striving for excellence and achieving new accomplishments in the future -- for patient care, for my mentor, for my teammates, and for myself."
