A radiologist who allegedly sexually harassed a female patient has been suspended from the medical register for 12 months, following a tribunal conducted by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS).

Musculoskeletal radiologist Dr. Prashant Sankaye of Imperial College, London, was performing an ultrasound exam of a woman's spine at the European Scanning Centre in Marylebone when he "slid his hands over the shocked patient's stomach, hips, flanks and then touched her right breast on several occasions," according to testimony provided at a misconduct hearing conducted by the MPTS.

Sankaye has denied groping the woman, but he is now suspended from medical duties for 12 months, according to the MPTS report. The suspension is not yet in force, pending an appeal period. You can download a full copy of the document from the MPTS website.
