France's union of private radiologists, Fédération Nationale de Médecins Radiologues (FNMR), has published a book about the experiences and perspective of independent radiologists in the pandemic. The group launched the book on 5 October at the French national radiology congress, Journées Francophones de Radiologie (JFR), and it includes a special section on the "lockdown" diary of a radiologist from Lyon.

The narrative paints a thorough picture of the challenges and outcomes of patient management during the first wave of the pandemic, as well as a description of the key political turning points and measures taken, according to the FNMR. The book also makes proposals to improve medical services ahead of a possible second wave.
The book allowed the FNMR to analyze mistakes made, particularly government mismanagement during the epidemic, it said. This process has permitted the group to highlight the essential role of private French radiologists in the diagnosis by chest CT of patients with COVID-19, as well as in the care of those with chronic conditions or emergency patients, and the FNMR has suggested a series of measures to avoid such errors being repeated, the organization stated.
On Sunday 4 October at JFR, the French society of radiology, Société Française de Radiologie (SFR), also unveiled a 20-minute movie about working life in the pandemic. Full details were published in a report in the e-Quotidien congress newspaper.
