The European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) has revealed that the European Commission is soon to launch a second emergency call for COVID-19 research proposals.
Similar to the first program in February, the procedure will again be expedited, according to the EIBIR. The institute expects that the call under the Horizons 2020 program will have a total budget of 120 million euros and will be published on 14 May. Full-length proposals would be due on 11 June.
The EIBIR said that topics covered under the call are expected to include:
- Pan-European cohorts united against the pandemic
- Medical technologies, digital tools, AI analytics
- Social and economic impacts of the outbreak response and mental health
- Repurposing of manufacturing for vital medical supplies and equipment
