Swedish PACS vendor Sectra announced it has established a direct sales presence in Canada.
The new operation, known as Sectra Canada, is headquartered in Toronto and is set to begin operations by September 2017.
The local headquarters will enable the firm to tailor its offerings to the specific workflow requirements of the Canadian market, the company said. Expansion into Canada is part of the firm's long-term growth plan.
Although the firm has several customers in Canada, its market share in the country is still relatively small, according to Sectra. This is something the company believes it can address through a local presence, said President and CEO Dr. Torbjörn Kronander in a statement announcing the deal.
The firm has appointed Kjetil Nilsen as president of Sectra Canada. Nilsen has 15 years of experience in medical IT, including 10 years at Sectra.
