ViewRay completes rad therapy purchase in Italy

Image-guided therapy developer ViewRay has sold its MRIdian MRI-guided radiation therapy system to University Hospital Agostino Gemelli in Rome.

The facility treats the largest number of cancer patients in Italy each year and serves as the official hospital to the papacy. Dr. Vincenzo Valentini, the former president of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology, leads the hospital's radiation oncology department.

MRIdian systems have been ordered by 13 cancer centers worldwide, three of which are already in clinical use in the U.S.
