Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems has received an order for 20 systems from the U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS).
The contract is for 20 TrueBeam advanced radiotherapy systems and is part of a program to replace older systems with newer technology for patients in the U.K.'s public hospitals.
According to NHS Supply Chain, there are approximately 300 linear accelerators in NHS hospitals, and as many as 100 of these are more than 10 years old.
Last year, Varian delivered 10 TrueBeam systems to oncology centers in Newcastle, Liverpool, Hull, Sheffield, Guildford, Hereford, Poole, and London.
