Philips makes large donation to ETH Zurich

Philips Healthcare has donated 10 million Swiss francs (8.3 million euros) for use in imaging research to ETH Zurich via its foundation, the two entities announced.

The donation will be used to advance healthcare research, particularly in medical imaging techniques and imaging-based modeling and simulation, they said. The funds will drive new research projects, development of new research groups, or additional professorships in health research. In addition, it will be used to finance new research instruments, especially at the Institute for Biomedical Engineering (IBT), an institute of ETH Zurich and University of Zurich.

IBT, which has partnered with Philips for more than 25 years, contributes important research toward the improvement of cancer diagnostics and the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, as well as diseases of the locomotor systems and neurological and psychiatric conditions, such as Alzheimer's, depression, and schizophrenia, Philips and ETH said.
