Riverain debuts new software at ECR

Computer-aided detection software developer Riverain Technologies debuted its ClearRead Compare temporal comparison software in Vienna at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR).

By electronically comparing current and prior chest x-ray images, the software can help identify nodules that may be early-stage lung cancer, according to Riverain. The software, which was previously marketed under the name DeltaView, also uses bone suppression technology to transform the radiograph into a soft-tissue image without showing ribs and clavicles. Its temporal comparison technology takes two chest x-rays taken of a patient at different times and produces a third subtraction image, in which brighter or darker areas help radiologists see changes that could indicate an emerging or enlarging tumor.

ClearRead Compare may also be helpful to pinpoint small changes in patients who have frequent chest radiographs, such as to monitor patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or those with chronic pleural thickening from asbestos exposure.

The software integrates seamlessly with all PACS, Riverain said.
