VIENNA - C-arm developer Ziehm Imaging is highlighting a pair of new C-arms it is launching at this week's European Congress of Radiology (ECR).
The first system is a new generation of the company's Vision RFD C-arm that's designed for hybrid operating rooms. The hybrid edition is designed to be a lower-cost alternative to fixed C-arms for hospitals with space and budgetary constraints, and incorporates into a single package the accessories a hospital would need to buy separately for C-arm guidance in the operating room.
The unit features Ziehm's flat-panel digital detector technology, with a resolution of 1.5K x 1.5K pixels. The detector is not affected by magnetic fields, according to the company, meaning it can be used in areas close to MRI scanners.
Other technical details of the Vision RFD hybrid edition include a compact 20-kW monoblock generator with a rotating anode, frame rates of 25 frames per second, and an active cooling system to keep operating temperatures steady and prevent generator overheating.
The second new C-arm the company is introducing at ECR 2011 is the Ziehm Solo Portable, a portable version of its Solo C-arm that can be packed into a box for easier shipping and transportation. Ziehm originally sold the systems under contract to the Germany army, but is now commercializing the system for other customers. The unit is an analog C-arm with 1K imaging.
